Upgrading to the Alpego DMax 700 Power Harrow
Rob Tole is a fourth generation livestock farmer from Cressy, Tasmania who recently upgraded to the Alpego Dmax 700, after using the 5m version for the past 10 years and being very happy with its workmanship.
Rob credits the Alpego 5m power harrow; “It’s been a very reliable machine which has done thousands and thousands of hectares and now we’ve got additional horsepower, we thought it’s time to upgrade.”
“We decided to stick with Alpego which we were very happy with but have put another 2 metres on to pick up those efficiencies and get over ground even faster.”
Derek Genoni, from Australian distributor Gendore Group, pointed out that a few other extras were also added this time around, with Rob opting for hydraulic depth control on the roller as well the hydraulic levelling board controls.
Rob explains, “Our ground varies a lot from heavy black ground to some lighter soil and now we can adjust from the cab. It allows us, when we get those changing soil conditions, to just lift it up and let more material flow through.”
Fuel efficiency has also has increased, now at 16 litres per hectare, down from 24 litres per hectare, which is a massive saving.
“They are reliable, efficient and versatile – you can’t beat the Alpego power harrows,” Derek says.
“The guys who have them love them and like Rob says we don’t really ever touch them with a spanner, so that speaks for itself.”
